The Maritime series guitars are made with Mahogany Back and Sides. Generally speaking, Mahogany Back and Sides produce a more mellow sound than other tone woods. The Maritime series Seagull guitars feature a unique lamination of Mahogany on each side of a center layer of Wild Cherry. This results in a sound with slightly more highs than a typical Mahogany guitar.
The Maritime Spruce 12 Gloss features a high gloss Custom Polished finish. This finish provides excellent protection but at the same time is extremely light and elastic. This is a crucial point in both the sound of the guitar and it's ability to age - a thick finish muffles a guitar's vibration and blocks aging.
