Like its big and little brother, the CTM-300 and CTM-100, the NEW CTM-200R takes its inspiration from the classic tube heads of the past and combines its 200W design with modern features, construction, reliability and, perhaps most importantly, huge tube sound.
Built for live use, the CTM-200R rack head is housed in a 2mm steel chassis with spot-welded brackets, manufactured in Essex, England, hand-finished and powder-coated black before being fitted with heavy-duty circuit boards that support the four KT-88 power tubes as well as the pre-amp tube array consisting of:
2 x ECC-832
2 x ECC-82
1 x ECC-99
With a classic five-tube preamp configuration and a fully loaded power section consisting of 4 KT88 output tubes, the CTM-200 is easily capable of delivering its powerful sounds at small to medium-sized gigs night after night.
From the mellow bass sound of the '60s to the rumbling bass sound of the '70s to the thick and powerful modern sound, the CTM-200R covers a wide range of sounds. Press the Mellow button for clean, warm, mellow tones, or press it for a pure, powerful rumble.
The standard tone controls give you a wide range of musical sounds, while the Deep, Mid Shift and Bright switches let you tailor your sound to the situation. The EQ section is a passive tone circuit-meaning that if all the controls are at zero, there will be no sound through the amp. All controls are highly interactive, giving you the ability to dial in exactly the sound you want. Don't be afraid to turn the pots on high to get the most out of the controls.
Valve RescueThe CTM-200R saves costly and time-consuming visits to the technician and keeps your amp sounding great longer, thanks to a user-adjustable bias for both output valves, which can be set by activating the bias mode of the dual-function VU meter on the front panel. Each output valve is protected by an individual fuse that can be replaced by the user without removing the unit from its case (the VU meter also indicates valve or fuse failure).
To get your sound straight to the desk, in the studio or on stage, the CTM-200R features a tube and transformer DI output with isolated ground to ensure maximum sonic purity and consistent output, night after night.
Likewise, the front-mounted effects loop is also valve-driven for maximum tone preservation.
