How to replace the sheaths and olives:
The sheaths must be changed as soon as cuts appear on them.

1- Remove the olive before replacing the sheath. It is easier to unscrew the olive by wrapping it with a business card for example or using pliers (be careful with the pliers not to crush or damage the olive) because the olive, in addition to be screwed, is glued with a drop of glue during its manufacture.

2- Heat the used sheath slightly (with a hair dryer or a conventional oven, especially not a microwave) to make it more flexible and remove it more easily.
3- Heat the new sheath slightly to insert it more easily on the baguette. Check that the aluminum ring is in place before inserting the new sheath.
4- To put the olive back: screw it in half, apply a drop of super glue on the threading then finish tightening it completely until it is in contact with the sheath.

Sheaths are extremely important. The tighter they are, the better. Take care that the aluminum ring is well placed by lightly tapping the handle of the stick on a soft surface. Ahead replacement sheaths are designed to protect your instrument and your wand while giving you the best possible performance. The life of the sheaths can vary according to the beaters: as long if not more than the life of a wooden stick. Unlike wooden sticks, Ahead sticks lose nothing in terms of flexibility and feeling of play over time.

frequently asked Questions
Do Ahead sticks break cymbals?
No, it's the drummers who break them. The Ahead sticks are better for your cymbals thanks to the polyurethane sheath which acts as a shock absorber. Cymbals can break when placed incorrectly, too tightly, or simply played incorrectly.
Are Ahead wands unbreakable?
No, but they can last 6 to 10 times longer than wooden sticks of comparable models by being played with the same intensity.
Why are Ahead sticks better for your wrists, arms and shoulders?
They allow you to play louder with less effort. They are also much more flexible than wooden sticks and absorb shock better, your wrists will thank you.
