Jimmy Page, Eddie Van Halen, Andy May, Andy Summers, David Gilmour ... The greatest guitar heroes have built their sound around the legendary EP-3, the famous Echoplex transistors. This huge box was manufactured from 1970 to 1991, long enough to mark several generations of the seal of its tape delay that instantly embellishes any grain. The problem is that the EP-3 is bulky, expensive on the vintage market and a relative reliability.
Modern times.
To help you overcome all these obstacles between you and your ideal delay sound, MXR has designed the EP103 Echoplex Delay, a small-scale pedal typical of the brand whose circuit perfectly emulates the character of old machines without the troubles that usually accompany him. Your original sound goes through a hi-fi quality signal path to preserve your treble, and rehearsals range from 40 to 750 milliseconds, from rockabilly slapback to pink Floyd-style rehearsals.
Accelerated aging.
In addition to the usual three settings of delay, feedback (the number of repetitions) and volume of repetitions, the EP103 Echoplex Delay also allows you to set the age of your virtual tape. By default, the sound produced is that of a new tape well calibrated, with a minimum wailing. But you can emulate the unpredictability of a band that has already served well but this time without risk it will leave you in full concert! All you have to do is connect an M199 Tap Tempo Switch to control the tempo of your Echoplex at the foot, an option that was of course unimaginable on the echoes of yesteryear.
The Echoplex Delay delivers the warm, organic sound of the legendary Echoplex EP-3 with a delay of up to 750ms. The Age control allows you to sculpt the sound of the repetitions, from a clear and brilliant sound to a sound that deteriorates as you go. Possibility of adding a Tap Tempo pedal allowing to go up to 4 seconds between each repetition, and to use the pedal in stereo.
