Description

Academy 12e-N

The Spanish style nylon strung guitar completely revamped for the modern guitar student, the Academy 12e-N is an entry level grand concert body shaped guitar with high-end features, at an incredible price point. With Sitka spruce top framed subtly by sapele back and sides - the rich, clear and balanced sounding Academy series guitars was conceived to provide the beginner guitarist the best possible playing experience, and the most level possible playing field to hone their skills and master their craft – incorporating some of the features that you see on more high-end models, such as a built-in armrest that’s as conducive to playing comfort as it is aesthetically pleasing. The smaller bodied grand concert body shape lends itself to fingerstyle players, shorter players, light strummers and those that prefer a more intimate playing experience – yet with an articulate voice that has just the right amount of top-end chime and controlled overtones, and can dish out some serious volume when called upon. Seasoned players also will appreciate the Academy 12 for it’s easy playability – with a shorter scale length that reduces string tension, making the smooth action neck slinky on the fretting hand. With a sturdy gig bag for easy transport and protection - the Academy series has all the classic Taylor hallmarks of build quality, craftsmanship, stability, playability and reliability – at an unbelievable price point. Learning to play guitar (or any instrument) is one of the most wonderful journeys of the human experience. It can be a long, difficult and sometimes even frustrating road – and to set out on your own musical adventure on an uncomfortable, poor sounding guitar can only compound the situation – Let the Academy 12 be your solution!

Grand Concert

One of the smaller body shapes in the Taylor family, with a slightly shorter scale length – the Grand Concert is easy to both wrap yourself around and press down on the frets, due to a lighter string tension – making it perfect for fingerstyle playing, young people just starting out and those with smaller hands / seeking a lighter touch. As at home in the studio as it is being with you on the road, the clarity of tone a Grand Concert guitar provides makes it perfect to layer with instruments in the mix where more dominating tones may struggle to slot into place. An extremely efficient design, the smaller body frame is inherently stronger, requiring less energy to encourage the soundboard to react - so you’ll find it surprisingly easy to set the strings in motion and really sing.

Layered Sapele

Layered sapele, used for Taylor backs and sides, incorporates three layers of climate resilient wood, featuring a middle core of poplar with a striking outer veneer of Sapele. Though not as tonally complex as its solid-wood counterpart, layered sapele is a strong, stable body wood that ensures vibrant tone and long-lasting durability.

Lutz Spruce

With a robust tonal output, Lutz Spruce responds well to both a strong attack and a delicate touch, blending tonal characteristics of Sitka / White spruce and its close cousin, Engelmann. The result is powerful sonic horsepower - strong volume and projection, with a tonal richness and headroom that lend it to a vast array of musical applications.

ES-B

This version of our ES-B electronics incorporates Taylor’s Expression System® 2 piezo design elements and features a multifunctional onboard preamp with a built-in digital chromatic tuner and active tone-shaping EQ control. The preamp/tuner unit features an LED display for tuning and low battery indication, along with a Volume control and 3-band EQ. The preamp/tuner is powered by a 9v battery. With an alkaline battery, battery life expectancy when using the preamp only is over 500 hours, and when using the tuner is over 50 hours. Plugging in the guitar will activate the battery. A low battery indicator on the LED display (located on the preamp circuit board) will light up when the battery reaches 4.5 volts.
