Robert Goute was a former drum major of the drum band of the Air Force in Paris. He was head of the music commission of the Fédération sportive et culturelle de France until 1979, founding member of the Confédération française des batterie-fanfares in 1980 and finally president of the Fédération internationale de l'école française du tambour in 1990. He is at the origin of the modern batterie-fanfare and of the revival of the French drum in the associative world
