The history of gretsch guitars

Gretsch take part of the oldest manufacturers of musical instruments. In 1883, Friedrich Gretsch, who originally came from Germany, setteled down to New York.

With the age of 27 years only, he created his enterprise and began to manufacture banjos and percussions. In the first half of the 20st century, Gretsch embarked on the fabrication of guitars. In the 50s, the brand stood out as an brand unavoidable because of it's electric guitars and the emergence of the Rock'n'Roll. The design and the caracteristic sound of the Gretsch-guitars joined perfectly with thi brand new music trend which distressed the whole world.

In 2002, Gretsch signed an accord with Fender Musical Instruments which authorized Fender to produce, to market and to distribute theb Gretsch-guitars all over the world. Fred Gretsch stays owner of this brand and is integrated into all important choices concerning the brand.

Many people consider that this partnership is a new golden age for the Gretsch-guitars which preset today an, until now, unattained quality.
