Released in commemoration of Samuel Barber's 100th birth anniversary, this new edition of previously unpublished Piano works by the American master comprises pieces composed between the ages of 7 and 21. Based on manuscripts found in the Library of Congress, the book includes extensive commentary on each piece that shows a precocious and skilled talent developing into one of America's greatest composers.
All pieces are first published editions except Three Sketches, published privately in 1924, and Interlude I. Selected manuscript facsimiles of childhood compositions are also included.
