The Hi-X60 is made in Vienna, Austria using the best design and manufacturing processes. Perfect sound isolation in combination with a high-excursion transducer guarantees an extremely clear sound image revealing every nuance and detail, sonic characteristics appreciated by artists, sound engineers and audiophiles.
The closed design prevents sound from escaping and offers perfect isolation against external nuisances. When in use, these features prevent sound from the headphones from being picked up by the recording microphone. At the same time, passive noise cancellation improves the signal-to-noise ratio by requiring less level, providing a healthier listening environment for the user with a distinct sound image at safer listening levels.

Austrian Audio's Hi-X technology is derived from decades of experience in pro audio research and development. By reducing all moving mass, the Hi-X60 delivers impressive dynamic characteristics and quick response. The 44mm Hi-X driver, with its crisp transients and linear frequency response, reveals every nuance and timbre of sound. Distortion-free reproduction down to the lowest frequencies enables linear and natural bass expression. Important decisions can be made with confidence in accuracy and reproduction to other audio systems.
Space and time.
The great sonic breadth of the Hi-X60 is more akin to that of an open-back headphone than a closed-back headphone. This characteristic is partly achieved by designing a spacious ear cup inside while having a relatively small external dimension. The memory foam ear cushions are a redesign of older models and the acoustic wall that closes the earpiece is doubled so that as little sound as possible can escape into the environment or enter from the outside in the internal soundstage. The headband's memory foam padding has a clever cutout for the contour of the head which drastically reduces its contact pressure. In practice, remarkable comfort and an optimal fit enable fatigue-free work sessions, even during very time-consuming audio projects.
Independence.
Studio work these days is often done in different locations and not tied to one location or one piece of equipment. Austrian Audio has incorporated this parameter into the design of the Hi-X60, ensuring flexibility for consistent performance in many work or leisure environments. The collapsible design and supporting components are all metal for added strength and stability. A lightweight, high-quality carry bag protects and facilitates its portability. Sonically, the Hi-X60 works with a wide range of sources: high-end headphone amplifiers, reference AD converters, studio interfaces, analog mixers, mobile players or laptops. Its impedance of 25 ohms guarantees adequate power and a sufficient reserve of dynamics always available.
