Two independent pianos and sample synthesizers
The Piano and Sample Synth sections of Nord Piano 5 each contain two independent layers. The two pianos and the two sample synthesizers can be used simultaneously in a variety of split or layered configurations. Combined with the versatile effects routing, a wide range of combinations can be achieved - from classic ensemble settings to rich soundscapes. LED-equipped level controls allow fast and precise balancing of all diaper volume levels. A volume pedal and / or a sustain pedal can be assigned to each layer.

Virtual Hammer Action Technology
Our unique Virtual Hammer Action technology, paired with the physical movements of the hammer, delivers exceptional authenticity and dynamic response, resulting in keyboard action that handles dynamic playing with incredible control at all speed levels. The triple-sensor keyboard also offers authentic features such as repeating a note without fully lifting the key to ensure the smooth rehearsals and smooth transitions associated with an acoustic grand piano.
Two new independent sample synthesizers with significantly expanded memory
The Sample Synth section contains a completely reworked selection of high quality sounds from the Nord Sample Library including exclusively licensed sounds from the legendary Mellotron and Chamberlin as well as a selection of samples from Symphobia and Swing! libraries by ProjectSAM. All sounds can be quickly replaced using the Nord Sound Manager. You can also create your own instrument samples using the unique free Nord Sample Editor software for Mac and Windows. The Sample Synth section provides two independent and complete layers and is equipped with intuitive controls for attack, decay / release, and dynamic velocity response. The new Soft and Bright Timbre settings provide a quick way to shape the tone of the sound.
