Because of the singular size of the reeds at the origin of their manufacture, these reeds have a thickness at their ends which ensures them a longevity much more important than that of their congeners. An artisanal and eco-responsible process.
From planting reeds to flow-pack packaging that protects reeds from moisture changes, Vandoren controls all stages of production of its famous reed tabs. Cut by hand, the canes are worn on the back of a man on the edge of a reed bed. They are then leafed, sun-dried, dried, sawn, arrowed, tabled, bevelled, ... No less than fifteen distinct production stages that produce a considerable volume of reed waste that is reused as a fertilizer for reed beds or as fuel for heating factory. Music at the service of ecology!

Coming from a selection of reed of specific size, V12 reeds are thicker at both ends than traditional reeds.
