Description

Essential Information About the Solid Body Electric Bass ?Pino Palladino StingRay?

  • Signature Sound: ?late 70s? pickup with shortened poles paired with a 9V 2-band preamp, 500k treble pot to recapture the warmth of Pino?s vintage circuit.

  • Custom Playability: unique asymmetrical neck (V shape on the low side tapering to C shape on the treble side), rosewood fingerboard with 7.5" radius for precise attack and vintage comfort.

  • Premium Hardware: pre-EB geometry steel bridge, brass saddles, and stainless steel spring mutes for firm sustain and a muted groove.

  • Stage Ready: delivered with a Mono gig bag, factory tuning E-A-D-G with extra light Smoothie Flats for a round and ?thumpy? tone.

A Signature Inspired by the 1979 StingRay

Designed as a tribute to Pino?s 1979 StingRay, this edition features the ?79 Burst? aesthetic, a dark-stained maple neck, and electronics dialed in to reproduce the iconic sound that shaped countless recordings. This fretted version boasts 21 nickel frets and a Pino Palladino signed neck plate. The series also includes a fretless variant for the expressive slides characteristic of the artist?s playing style.

For Whom and Which Styles?

Ideal for studio and stage bassists in soul, R&B, pop, and rock, it combines the foundation and clarity of a classic StingRay with a warmer, more controlled response. The factory Smoothie Flats provide a soft attack, present mids, and a woody low end that naturally fits into the mix.

Electronics and Luthiery Serving the Groove

The ?late 70s? bridge pickup with flush poles delivers a focused, dense tone. The 9V 2-band preamp, equipped with CTS potentiometers and a 500k treble pot as on Pino?s instrument, favors a musical usable range, from muted lows to silky highs. On the luthiery side, the poplar body lightens the overall weight without sacrificing projection, while the pre-EB bridge with brass saddles and integrated mutes allows for everything from articulated punch to classic ?foam mute? sounds without additional accessories.
