The production of copper musical instruments was created in France by the Courtois family in 1789 rue Mazarine in Paris. There is indeed in the Museum of the National Superior Conservatory of Paris a cavalry trumpet marked "Courtois, Rue Mazarine", having belonged to the courier of the parliamentary officer sent by Bonaparte to the seat of Saint-Jean-d'Acre in 1799 .

In 1803, Antoine Courtois (1770-1855), one of the creator's sons, moved to rue du Caire. Among the instruments of its manufacture, there is a trumpet in the shape of a half-moon, emitting sounds similar to those of the horn, a bugle of infantry adopted in 1823 by the Ministry of War, a trombone with slide, as well as the first piston horns, key bugles, horns and ophicles.

In 1844, Antoine Courtois fils succeeded his father and created, thanks to the collaboration of eminent artists, the famous cornet with pistons Arban system. Since then we owe its collaborators and successors very important creations and many acoustic and mechanical improvements. A unique list of awards at international exhibitions attests to the constant success and universal celebrity of the Antoine Courtois Paris brand.

In 1956, Mr. Paul Gaudet centralized his business in Amboise in Indre et Loire. Mr. Jacques Gaudet, his son, perpetuated the tradition of quality and technical perfection, thanks to a constant modernization of the manufacturing processes and a close collaboration with the greatest artists of Europe.

In 1994, the company joined a large European group, JA Musik and it was in 2006 that the Antoine Courtois company rediscovered its French origins by joining the Buffet Crampon group, another prestigious manufacture of wind instruments created in Paris in 1825. .
Musicians around the world are unanimous in recognizing that an instrument signed Antoine Courtois is a guarantee of technical perfection and quality.
