I just discovered a small pair of earphones signed PRODIPE '', called IEM 3 ....

These are headphones that you slide into the ear canal, a bit like a walkman. You know it, to see it on all the concerts, the obsession of the sound engineers, it is imperative to make clear place on the stage, which implies not seeing the wedges anymore, or returns !!! For a few years now, artists, whether musicians or singers, have replaced returns with EAR MONITORS.

This is the equipment I just received a pair of. First thing that comes when looking at IEM 3, what sound can come out of these very small transducers ?? So, I plug the IEM 3 directly into a headphone output on my console.. There I launch a series of CDs that I really know very well to test what I have in my ears.

As my ears are above all, my livelihood, I start at a very low volume. At low speed, the EMI 3 are very pleasant to the ear. During my test, the titles are linked, and little by little, I push the volume. Already, after 4 or 5 tracks, the IEM 3, remain very faithful to the sound that I know. By listening to my demo CDs, I end up forgetting that I wear the IEM 3 ... For me who am demanding on the sound, the rendering is really convincing without hurting my head.. The more I push the level, the more pleasant and precise the musical harmony. After my personal tests, I decided to use the IEM 3 with a musician who comes to record an electric guitar on a track that had to be corrected, and resume a chorus that he wants to redo.. Saturday around 10 a.m., my guinea pig arrives. He installs his gear, me my microphones, and I stick in his ears the IEM 3. For my part, on the multitrack I have the whole sound, voice included. He seems happy, and hears his instrument as he wants, that's essential! In 2 hours of time and 6 different choruses further, we finish the recording session. In this case, the mix is really calibrated for great listening comfort compared to its chorus, nothing to do with a final mix.

Before leaving, I ask him if working with Ear Monitors was better, different or worse than a studio headphone .... His response was, "I didn't think about it at all, I was focused on my chorus". I was very happy with this answer, he did not even pay attention to the material used to put the necessary sound for his chorus. It is true that the sound of IEM 3 is particularly balanced and neutral.
