The most famous reed in the world thanks to an uncompromising manufacture, entirely mastered by the illustrious Vandoren house.
The reference among the references.
The famous blue box has been accompanying saxophonists for decades. These traditional reeds, the most played in the world, are for musicians looking for pure sound. A combination of an extremely fine point and a thicker vamp towards the heel, the traditional reed offers a full and dark sound.
An artisanal and eco-responsible process.
From planting reeds to flow-pack packaging that protects reeds from moisture changes, Vandoren controls all stages of production of its famous reed tabs. Cut by hand, the canes are worn on the back of a man on the edge of a reed bed. They are then leafed, sun-dried, dried, sawn, arrowed, tabled, bevelled, ... No less than fifteen distinct production stages that produce a considerable volume of reed waste that is reused as a fertilizer for reed beds or as fuel for heating factory. Music at the service of ecology!
Boxes of 5 traditional Vandoren reeds (Blue Box). These are the most played reeds in the professional world. They have proven themselves for many years. These reeds are suitable for all styles of music. Their main acoustic qualities are an excellent response in all registers, allowing even pianissimo attack of high-pitched notes and flexibility allowing the execution of large intervals legato or saccato.
Traditional Vandoren reeds combine the finest end with the thickest heart, allowing for a flawless articulation with a full, dark sound.
The design of these reeds allows to obtain an extremely pure sound thanks to the combination of two factors: A very fine end of the reed (where the zone of vibration is maximum), an important vertebral column (more wood in the zone gradually leading to the heel). These reeds are recognizable by a horizontal line which delimits the zone of scratching of the bark.
