Grammy-winner Luis Conte is an acknowledged master of percussion. His celebrated career includes touring and/or recording with some of the greatest names in contemporary music, including Madonna, Eric Clapton, Santana, Céline Dion, Barbara Streisand, Backstreet Boys, Ray Charles and Cuban legends Arturo Sandoval and Cachao. He can also be heard on the scores and/or soundtracks to movies such as Mission Impossible, Rain Man, Disney’s animated Tarzan and many more. Luis began 2006 by playing at the Grammy Awards with musical director Patrice Rushen and performed with James Taylor (as person of the year) in a concert where he had to back guest artists such as Bonnie Raitt, Dixie Chicks, Paul Simon, Bruce Springsteen and Dr. John. The year continued with a clinic tour throughout the Midwestern US. While not on tour, Luis has been busy in Los Angeles appearing on a variety of recordings, such as jingles (TV commercials), movie soundtracks such as Miami Vice, Smoking Aces and The Lost City and on albums such as Five for Fighting, OK Go, Michael W Smith, Michael Bolton, Russell Watson, Pussy Cat Dolls, Ziggy Marley, Marco Antonio Solis, Aly and AJ, Slumber Party Girls and many more. Besides an Australian tour with Jackson Browne and concerts with the great R&B Soul and Gospel Diva Patti Labelle, Luis also performed in Christian concerts with Dámaris Carbaugh, Bill Cantos and the City of Angels Orchestra. If this wasn’t enough, Luis also jammed at the Andre Agassi Celebrity Benefi t concert in Las Vegas with Phil Collins, Christina Aguilera and Tears For Fears. During the summer months, Luis gave an extensive clinic tour which took him to Switzerland, Portugal, Spain, the Netherlands, Belgium, France, Turkey, the Czech Republic, England, Sardinia and Italy where he performed in front of several thousand enthused visitors. His next triumph was an incredible duet with Thomas Lang at the Modern Drummer Festival in Newark, NJ. Luis and Thomas convened on the New Jersey Performing Arts Center with many other lovers of all things drumming to give a performance which many will remember for years to come. Luis has also been touring with his own band around Los Angeles and Santa Barbara Counties and is currently working on his next solo CD which will be released sometime in 2007.
