The gain control varies the original signal strength from 0dB to 25dB without changing its nature. The Res Peak switch drops the resonance peak of a single 5KHz pickup, making it sound like a humbucker. Note that the Pickup Booster is true bypass and is equipped with a class A circuit. Seymour Duncan did not do in half measure!

The Pickup Booster is under the hood! Set the gain to 0 dB and set the Res peak switch to zero to obtain a transparent boost. By setting the gain at noon and resonance to the first position, you get a thicker sound. If you push the gain to the maximum and set the resonance to the second position, you'll give a single-coil pickup the power of a high output humbucker. Raise the gain by leaving resonance at zero and give your humbucker maximum saturation and sustain. One tip, however: for the Pickup Booster to work optimally, it must be placed at the beginning of the effects chain and use passive pickups.
The new Pickup Booster pedal from Seymour Duncan is a reissue of the first version to which key enhancements have been added. This pedal will allow you to magnify your sound, by ringing a simple microphone as a humbucker, with several settings available through the resonance switch: Position 1: its typical vintage Humbucker / Position 2: its typed modern Humbucker, high gain.
The pedal still works with a low noise class A discrete circuit, but the gain can now be set to 0dB for optimal transparency.
