Description

Robert Schumann
Liederkreis op. 24

Kazuko Ozawa (Editor)

Urtext edition, medium voice, paperback binding

for medium voice

Schumann was the first to set a complete cycle of poems by Henri Heine to music. 17-year-old Schumann was already fascinated by the poet's “flashing lightning” writings. But it was during the “year of the lied”, in 1840, that he wrote his opus 24. He chose for his setting to music a cycle taken from the Book of Songs (Buch der Lieder). The composer writes to his fiancée: “Ah! Clara, what a joy to write for the song. " This enthusiasm is reflected in each of the nine lieder.
Finally, singers with a deep voice are allowed to rely on the Urtext Schumann editions of Henle: the magnificent Liederkreis op. 24, composed on poems by Heinrich Heine, is now published in a transposed edition, produced by Schumann expert Kazuko Ozawa. With the support of the famous lieder accompanist Gerold Huber, Henle now offers carefully arranged viola transpositions of the medium voice version. This Urtext edition is accompanied by an in-depth preface on the genesis and a detailed critical commentary. The original high voice edition is available under the number HN 548.
