The American songwriter and bandleader Jack Fina used the chromatic frenzy of the late-romantic Russian composer Nikolay Rimsky-Korsakov as the basis for his Bumble Boogie in the 1930s. Fina's paraphrase conquered the charts and is an indispensable staple of every pianist's repertoire thanks to its well-balanced mix of genre piece and jazz standard.
