Franz Liszt Years of pilgrimage, First Year - Switzerland
Peter Jost (Editor)
Francesco Piemontesi (Fingering)
Urtext edition, paperback binding
revised edition replaces HN 173
The three volumes of The Years of Pilgrimage belong to the central core of Liszt's piano work. In the first volume, Switzerland, the composer deals with impressions collected during a long stay in Switzerland, in 1835/36. The pieces, for the most part published as early as 1840/41, were then substantially revised by Liszt, and the collection enriched with two numbers, to reach its final form in 1855. For the overhaul of the Henle urtext edition, it was possible to take into account for the first time the copy - once again accessible - which was used for the engraving of the first edition. The preface and remarks detail the resulting reassessment of sources, as well as other advances in Liszt research. For the realization of the fingerings, we were able to count on the Swiss pianist Francesco Piemontesi.
