A housing for installation and live. The AB168 is a digital stage box specifically designed to work with Allen & Heath digital mixing consoles in the GLD, QU and SQ series. It offers 16 phantom-powered microphone preamps and 8 line-level XLR outputs and uses the proprietary dSnake protocol to communicate with the console via a simple cat5 network cable. Thanks to its 120 meter offset capability, it represents a simple and effective solution for moving the inputs and outputs of a compatible console closer to the stage.
Extensive possibilities. An AB168 can be used to de-assign up to 16 inputs and 8 outputs, but this configuration may be insufficient with 24- or 32-way consoles. For maximum capacity and flexibility, two AB168s can be connected to the chain to provide up to 32 inputs and 16 outputs to the connected system. If that were not enough, it is also possible to interconnect an AR2412 and an AB168 to develop up to 36 inputs and 16 outputs. Beyond the possibility of offset, some consoles (such as Qu-PAC, Qu-SB or new SQ) only develop their full potential with the addition of digital stage boxes. The Expander output can also be used to connect an Allen & Heath ME personal monitoring system.
Robust manufacturing. When looking at the AB168, it's very easy to guess where to go first. Rubber bumper in the corners, a very sturdy carrying handle and a weight of less than 5 kilos: no doubt, it was really designed to be put on stage and endure the rigor of the tours. An optional racking kit is also available for installation in a rack cabinet.
