The Tortex was invented by Jim Dunlop in 1981 to replace the tortoiseshell. Over the decades, this material has established itself as THE standard of the genre by allowing musicians of all styles to find the perfect pick for their type of play.

Tortex picks are unalterable and their material, designed by Dunlop, gives them a solid form of memory. Their flexibility provides a smooth attack for crystal clear sound, whether it's playing chords on an acoustic guitar or frenzied solos on electric guitar! The Tortex is the legendary pick that can be heard on many albums that made the history of rock. It is available in a wide variety of thicknesses, shapes and colors: to each its Tortex!

The famous Tortex nylon has become popular since its launch thanks to its durability and brilliant tone.
Dunlop uses it to make the mediators used by the best guitarists in the world.

These are the characteristics that made the original mediators made from turtle shells very popular.
