The class-A circuit of the EQ-73 is similar to that of the classic 1073 module. The sound is warm, punchy, smooth and musical at the same time. There are countless discs that have benefited from this kind of treatment because this type of equalizer is suitable for most sources, whatever the style of music. You can find the spirit today without breaking the bank. The EQ-73 differs from the 1073 by the absence of the low cut, but offers more frequencies and a band of mediums using 2 inductors, the last serving for the lowest frequencies, 160Hz and 240Hz.
The EQ-73 is notched and offers frequency selection from 20Hz to 24kHz. The bass and treble bands have shelving filters, the mid bands are bell-shaped. You can 'boost' or 'cut' by +/-15 dB on the bass and midrange, and by +/- 18dB for the treble. Each frequency band has a 'bypass' button.
The EQ-73 has been designed to complement the Pre-73 family of preamplifiers. The connection is made via the 'insert' input jack on the back of the preamp. It can be connected to other models as long as they have a low level 'insert' input (-18dB to -10dB). The combination of the Pre-73 and the EQ-73 is perfect for concocting a complete 1073 type module in 19" rack format thanks to the optional 'UNITE' rack kit. Very good sound, without breaking the bank!
