Described by trumpet legend Maynard Ferguson as "the most musical lead trumpeter I've ever had in my band," Wayne Bergeron is well known on the international music scene for his ability to deliver brilliant performances in a wide range of musical genres. As a studio musician, Wayne demands a high degree of flexibility from his instruments. That's why his 1st generation Yamaha Custom trumpet has been completely redesigned and updated with a new two-piece piston block, a uniquely designed 3rd slide stop screw and new phosphor bronze alloy parts to create an instrument of exceptional versatility. The YTR-8335LA 02 offers brilliant highs, precise tuning and intense tonal nuances that define a new level of playing efficiency and elevate the performance of the Custom trumpet to new heights.
Two-piece piston block
The piston block is the essential 'heart' of any trumpet. In order to provide the YTR-8335LA(S) with the best blowing efficiency and strength, all the parts and materials that make up the piston block have been carefully analyzed and refined. The increased weight, the new production process and the use of thinner spacers, offer better resistance to playability, a more powerful sound and precise definition in all registers.
Phosphor bronze alloy caps under the pistons
Directly in contact with the piston block, the piston caps have an impact on the sound. In order to find the perfect balance and the ideal result expected by the artists, a large number of prototypes were made in different metals, different weights and multiple designs. The result is these new heavy hats made of phosphor-bronze alloy. They allow for greater responsiveness of the trumpet while offering more depth and fullness of sound in the pianos. The musicians feel more comfortable and in tune with the instrument.
Xeno Artist water keys
For the first time ever, some of the parts of the Xeno Artist models, which are highly appreciated by the best musicians in the world, have been included in a Custom model such as the second generation YTR-8335LA. For example the water key: the weight distribution between the key and the stand, as well as the synthetic cork, improve playability and response while favouring the high register. Synthetic felts on the inside and outside of the pistons improve alignment and feel.
Custom Z Knobs and Piston Caps
The light weight of the Custom Z top caps and knobs provide great playability and sound definition, while the synthetic outer and inner felts on the pistons ensure precise alignment and long-lasting comfort of the pistons.
French bellows
Unlike traditional methods where a round-edged bellows is used for banding, on the second generation YTR-8335LA we use a French bellows. The semi-flat rim is an extremely advanced technique that increases playing comfort by providing greater sound reproduction to the player.
Side-welded bell
The side-welding of the bell is a process that consists in fixing the spacers on the bell's weld, thus allowing the bell to vibrate more freely and to obtain a larger sound opening.
Case
The second generation YTR-8335LA comes in a double backpack case, equipped with a large external pocket.
