MCDSP's analog processing box (APB) combines the flexibility of software with the fidelity of a quality analog processing. Each channel can be controlled by an AAX plug-in, at or VST3, thus offering a real digital work flow with authentic analog performance. Treatment options include compressors, mastering mastering, transient improvement devices, multichannel and multibanding applications, and much more.
The APB-8 and the APB-16 are delivered with a collection of APB plug-ins to transport the audio to the APB hardware and control the analog circuits it contains. The user simply uses the APB plug-in like any other plug-in, but the treatment is carried out analog. The settings can be saved as a preselection, plug-ins can be recalled with a session and the parameters can even be automated with precision at the sample level. APB plug-ins offer a real digital work flow with authentic analog performance.
An APB plug-in takes the input audio signal, combines it with a control signal, and sends both via a Thunderbolt connection to an APB hardware unit for treatment. The signal control configures analog components so that they execute the selected algorithm with all the parameter values, and the audio signal is processed in the analog field, then converted into the digital field, and appears to the output of the plug- In APB in the Pro Tools session.
