Eric Gales knows what he needs to make mortals hear the sound he has in his head when he's on a first-name basis with the angels. In terms of legitimacy to take up the torch from J.H., this is where he stands. First of all, he hasn't claimed anything; it's his work and his talent that got him where he is. He explains to Jimi Dunlop, a long-time friend, that he needs more punch, more dynamics, more low end and no recessed midrange.
Jimi took up the challenge, put on his 'Mr Plus' jacket and made full use of the synergy between the companies he owned: he asked guru Jeorge Tripps (Way Huge) to work with MXR to create a small (by size) monster of richness and dynamics.
