The String Quartet op. 3 by Evgeny Kissin consists of four strongly contrasting movements: in the moderate "Adagio liberamente" from the beginning there follows an extremely lively "Allegro restless", dotted with glissandi and moving between extreme dynamics. The third movement, entitled "Largo drammatico", is animated by an insistent rhythmic motif strongly pointed, while the last movement, after an introduction surmounted by the indication "Pensierosamente, ma maintendo strictly il il rhythmo puntato" ("Thoughtfully, but keeping strictly the rhythm pointed "), it strings on a Finale" Molto allegro e sarcastico "flashing through elements of fugato and, like all other movements, impregnated with dodecaphonism. This demanding quarter-hour work was conceived in 2015-2016 and recorded for the first time at Nimbus Records by the Kopelmann Quartet in 2018.
