The Eko JB401 is an electric bass with the vintage jazz lines that have marked every generation of bassists since the 1950s. It has a retro look and is built with a lightweight, resonant paulownia body, combined with a maple neck and fingerboard. With its passive electronics consisting of 2 single J-type pickups and its 21-fret maple neck, the JB401 bass offers versatility and comfort that will delight any bassist just starting out on his musical adventure.
The timeless offset silhouette that inspired the design of the JB401 needs no introduction: the characteristic double cutaway for excellent access to the last fret, combined with two single pickups and a 4-bridge bridge/tailpiece block. This classic configuration has been adopted by Italian manufacturer Eko to make the JB401 an attractive electric bass, ergonomic with its contained weight and welcoming curves, and above all highly versatile for novice bassists.
Despite its very affordable price, the JB401's lutherie has received the utmost attention in order to offer bassists new to the instrument an attractive, well-finished bass. The body is made from paulownia, a light, robust and resonant wood providing comfort and beautiful vibrations. The sturdy, comfortable 4-point screwed neck in American maple is topped with a varnished maple fingerboard, bringing even more clarity to your notes and a 50s look.
As for the electronics, the JB401 is equipped with 2 J-type single-coil pickups with their familiar configuration, much appreciated for their snap, midrange and versatility. Very much at home on warm, clear sounds, they can also be very biting and percussive when combined with powerful distortion. To extend the sonic possibilities, a volume control for each pickup and a general tone control enable you to mix the characters of the different pickups and adjust their more or less brilliant timbre. The bridge/tailpiece block incorporates independently adjustable saddles to fine-tune the action and harmonics of each string and ensure effective sustain.
Affordable, lightweight, versatile and aesthetically pleasing with its timeless retro silhouette, the JB401 is the ideal instrument for a fun start on the electric bass, without breaking the bank
