The new Responsive Hammer III mechanism recreates the distinctive touch of an acoustic grand piano, with its realistic movement and precise triple-sensor technology providing a fluid, natural and highly responsive playing experience.
The keyboard's weight is perfectly calibrated to reproduce the heavier bass hammers of an acoustic piano, while structural reinforcements throughout the action ensure greater stability during fortissimo and staccato passages.
The ES920 digital piano features Kawai's “Ivory Touch” synthetic ivory surface coating, which gradually absorbs moisture from the fingers, while the Let-off escapement simulation recreates the subtle “notch” sensation felt when gently playing the keys of a grand piano, fulfilling the expectations of the most demanding pianists.

This unique process precisely recreates the original wide dynamic range of grand pianos, offering pianists an extraordinary level of expressivity, from the softest pianissimo to the boldest fortissimos.
The integrated “Virtual Technican” function lets you shape various characteristics of these acoustic pianos at the touch of a button, adjusting the resonance of strings and dampers, with the subtle natural sounds of hammers, keys and dampers. This custom piano sound is further enhanced with atmospheric reverb effects, delivering a rich, vibrant tone of breathtaking realism and authenticity.
A wide range of additional instruments
In addition to acoustic piano sounds, the ES920 also offers a wide selection of additional instrument sounds, from electric pianos, jazz and liturgical organs, string ensembles, choirs... inviting musicians to add a wider variety of sounds to their performances.
What's more, the Dual playing mode allows two sounds, such as grand piano and strings, to be superimposed, while the Split and FourHands playing modes divide the keyboard into two independent sections. A volume balance and other settings for each mode can be adjusted in real time, quickly and easily, using the dashboard controls.

With a variety of styles ranging from pop and rock ballads to jazz-funk and Latin cadences, the ES920 digital piano's rhythm section function offers musicians a choice of professional solo accompaniment arrangements at the touch of a button.
