The Dante Audio-over-IP protocol was developed by the Australian company Audinate and allows the transmission of digital audio signals without compression over long distances with low latency. To support the popularity and growing diffusion of Dante solutions in the professional audio market, RME has chosen to develop the Digiface Dante, a compact USB 3.0 interface which provides mobility and flexibility compared to traditional Dante interfaces. PCIe format. And to power the Digiface Dante, users have the choice between an external power supply or via the USB bus.
Thanks to the integration of MADI drivers (Mac/PC) of the famous RME interfaces of the MADIface series, the Digiface Dante also allows users to transfer 64 MADI channels via USB 3.0 in addition to the 64 Dante channels. To do this, the two BNC connectors reserved for the word clock can switch to MADI inputs and outputs. All 128 Dante and MADI channels are controlled via the included Dante control software as well as TotalMix FX, RME's DSP-based mixer which allows numerous routing and monitoring options. Thus, TotalMix FX allows users to create independent submixes using all available inputs.
The Digiface Dante has two double, redundant network connectors with multiple functions: they can be used as inputs or outputs, as a network switch or even for redundancy operations with a primary network and a secondary network in order to meet security requirements . To round it all off, the interface can also be used as a mobile Dante/MADI converter when the USB connection is not in use.
