Grand Auditorium
![]()
When you think of a Taylor guitar, chances are you think of a Grand Auditorium. For over 20 years, it has been Taylor's classic body shape, with the perfect blend of tonal balance, projection, note articulation, shimmering highs, and incredible playability – it’s an industry trademark and a reference for players of all ages, levels, and musical styles. With a width/depth comparable to a dreadnought but with sleeker lines and a narrower waist that make it easily identifiable across the room, this highly versatile guitar shape offers equal playing conditions and, whether for chamber musicians, touring, or studio work, it inspires you to keep playing.
Sapele
![]()
Sapele produces a warm and smooth tonal quality, similar to mahogany, for a full and balanced sound with a good amount of volume. Its woody response and punchy mids make it a popular choice for players seeking a rich and fundamental sound with minimal overtones.
Torrefied Sitka Spruce
![]()
Sitka spruce is the most commonly used wood for guitar tops. Sitka generates a wide dynamic range and adapts to many playing styles, from aggressive strumming to fingerpicking. As a guitar soundboard, Sitka spruce is the modern era’s standard tonewood. It is used on 85 to 90% of guitars made by Taylor. Its combination of strength and elasticity results in a wide dynamic range, offering clear articulation and allowing everything from aggressive strumming and flatpicking to fingerpicking.
Expression System ES-2 Pickup

If you need to amplify your sound, you will love the revolutionary onboard ES2 pickup system. The 3 individual sensors located behind the bridge combine with the professional-grade preamp to deliver unmatched dynamics, perfect for live or studio use.
V-Class Bracing
![]()
Bracing is the internal framework of an acoustic guitar that plays a crucial role in how the instrument shapes sound. While X-bracing has been standard on acoustic guitars for over a century, it creates an inherent conflict between two key elements of a guitar’s sound: volume and sustain. The guitar top (its soundboard) significantly contributes to these two elements. The flexibility of the top generates volume (projection), while its stiffness generates sustain. With X-braced guitar tops, this is where the compromise comes in: when one element is made stiffer, its flexibility is reduced (and vice versa).
V-Class bracing changes all that. With Taylor’s V-Class bracing, an acoustic guitar top can be both stiff and flexible, for more volume and sustain. V-Class bracing offers stiffness parallel to the strings for more rigidity and thus more sustain. The flexibility on each side generates the air movement needed for robust projection – so it’s the best of both worlds. This revolutionary innovation also improves intonation, producing not only stronger and longer notes but also notes that are more in phase with each other. V-Class bracing also increases volume evenly across the entire tonal spectrum, enhances sustain, and improves the instrument’s natural intonation by creating a more synergistic response from the soundboard. This fosters a more harmonious relationship between the notes you play, allowing chords to ring out in cohesive splendor. Get a Taylor with V-Class bracing and experience it for yourself."
