The gray clip is spring-loaded to automatically grip the strap button, so there's no risk of it unhooking unintentionally. Simply press down on the grey clip and slide the end of the strap off. Compatible with most common strap knobs. The Auto Lock guitar strap was designed in partnership with Ned Steinberger.
