Innovative, powerful but simple
Immediately after powering up, the Portacapture X8's large color touchscreen displays the Launcher, which lets you easily select the most suitable audio settings for your application. The time saved by using these presets allows you to focus more on the recording itself, without having to go through complicated setups. However, if you'd rather tune everything yourself, the MANUAL app gives you the option - and includes a recording guide to direct you to the necessary setup screens.
Six different recording apps are available:
- MANUAL: This is the main app, allowing multitrack recording of up to six audio sources, plus a stereo mix (2-mix).
- VOICE: This recording app is ideal for interviews, dictations and meetings.
- PODCAST: This app is suitable for producing podcasts with up to four speakers.
- MUSIC: Choose this app for recording vocals and instruments.
- FIELD: This app is ideal for recording natural sounds outdoors.
- ASMR: The visual effect of the screen changes depending on the input sound.
Easy level adjustment
The Portacapture X8 features a predetermined level setting, achieving a wide dynamic range through the use of two high-end A / D converters and a recording engine working at 32-bit floating point resolution . The result: uncompromising audio quality, even on recordings made at low levels. When editing audio data later, you can increase the level without deteriorating the signal-to-noise (A / D) ratio. In addition, the built-in Normalize function allows the level of the stereo mix file to be aligned to 0 dBFS after recording. By combining these features, there's no need to waste valuable creative time finding the right audio level when recording.
USB audio interface for your computer
Compatible with immediate use without installing a driver, the Portacapture X8 can be used as a compact mixer with integrated microphones, for live streaming via OBS or similar platform; it also allows immediate recording of voiceovers or dialogues for video, directly to workstation and audio editing software. The Portacapture X8 allows streaming of up to 8 tracks (6 inputs + stereo mix) via USB. Compatible with the USB Type-C power specification, the device can supply any external microphone with 48 volt phantom voltage over the USB bus. In video or audio conferencing, you can use the Portacapture X8 as a USB stereo microphone, and even record audio simultaneously.
