Inspired by a disto-fuzz legend
The massive American disto-fuzz is a staple in the arsenal of any self-respecting guitarist, whether you were originally looking for the sound of David Gilmour, Jack White, J. Mascis or Billy Corgan.
It's great for the huge, deep sound it gives to the simplest of riffs, but also for the infinite sustain it allows you to reach in solo for a deeply lyrical performance. The problem is that this pedal has been around for over fifty years and there are both many original models (some of which have become financially unaffordable) and countless clones and variations. How do you choose your own?
A multi-faceted pedal
And besides, who says you have to choose? In designing the Full Story, we wanted to allow the guitarist to find the disto-fuzz colour that best suited him or her, and this was done through the concept of Tone Cards.
This system, designed specifically for the Full Story, allows you to house a piece of circuitry on removable cards so you can choose your version without the sonic compromises that come with the usual multi-fuzz pedals.
And because guitarists don't like to choose, the Full Story can accommodate two Tone Cards. The pedal comes with two massive disto-fuzz voicings designed for two "ideal" uses of the effect: a "main fuzz" inspired by the first Russian version of massive disto-fuzz from the 90's, but with a deeper midrange, while the "secondary fuzz" is inspired by the very first version released in 1969 with less slobbery bass.
Two channels for more possibilities
Two sets of three knobs allow each fuzz to be set independently (a second footswitch is used to switch between the two), and a "Mid" switch radically changes the character of the disto-fuzz by bringing in the midrange, turning a big riff sound into an incandescent solo sound.
But that's just the beginning of the exploration, as the Full Story is compatible with many, many separately sold Tone Cards: you're not done asking big, existential questions about disto-fuzz nuances.
