the principle of cardiode mode
This subwoofer also has a very special feature called cardioid mode which drastically reduces the volume behind the speaker when using two SONAR 115 Sub Ds.. With this professional feature, cardioid setups don't require any further settings - anyone can set them up without having to do complicated calculations.

Addition of a second SONAR 115 Sub D increases the sound pressure level at low frequency. The classic full stack configuration on the left, with two subassemblies projecting forward, increases SPL by 3 dB in all directions. But there's a better way to boost bass sound pressure level, thanks to the cardioid capabilities of the SONAR 115 Sub D.. It has two presets that allow you to set up a cardioid bass system with a lower subwoofer projecting backwards - without having to do any complicated calculations or compensate for delay time.

Just select the Cardioid Rear preset for the lower subwoofer and the Cardioid Front preset for the upper subwoofer that projects forward.. Both are now set to work properly without requiring further settings.

When does it make sense to go for a cardioid setup?
A cardioid setup involves canceling the radiation frequencies backwards. While speakers are capable of directing mid and high frequencies, low frequencies tend to radiate in all directions.. Excessive bass levels can often be a problem on and behind the stage. And promoters are asking more and more often to limit the range of low-end sound systems, for example in festival tents in urban places.

The SONAR 115 SUB D has all the hardware and audio features needed to quickly and easily set up effective cardioid setups that attenuate low rear frequencies up to 34 dB. This makes life much easier for performers on stage and greatly improves sound, as microphones no longer pick up spurious low frequency signals.

Sonar Remote: An advanced smartphone application
The SONAR REMOTE app for tablets and smartphones running iOS and Android operating systems offers much more than a simple remote control option for the integrated digital mixer. It also allows you to control all parameters and functions of the Sonar XI models, including the three-band EQ settings for each channel.. You can save scenes to bring frequently used presets to you, when you need them. These can be settings for your favorite microphones, varying the SONAR Xi setups and the basic setups for different locations.
