VOX has unveiled the 3rd generation of its amPlug, the brand's flagship product for simple headphone guitar and bass practice. Available in 7 models: 5 for guitar and 2 for bass, this new version brings real improvements in terms of functionality and sound quality:

The analogue circuitry has been improved to reproduce the compression and harmonics of the tube amps modelled.
The effects, integrated since the 2nd generation, are now in stereo for a better sound experience
The drum machine, only present in the bass model, is now available on all models. 9 rhythm patterns are included in all amPlug3s
TRRS mini jack output allows you to connect the amPlug3 to your smartphone via an adapter for recording purposes
Improved design and casing for a sleeker look

The new amPlug3 comes in 7 versions for guitarists and bassists:

AC30: the legendary sound of the VOX AC30. Channel 1 produces the classic clean sound of an AC30, while channel 2 models the TOP BOOST channel of a 1963 AC30.
UK Drive: based on a British 100W stack from the 60s, the first channel has a vintage clean grain while the second channel reveals a sharp distortion.
US Silver: the iconic grain of American amps from the 60s, with a warm, clean first channel and a second with subtle overdrive.
Boutique: a legendary amp in your amPlug! The first channel is a warm, dynamic and transparent clean and the second delivers a lovely, smooth overdrive.
High Gain: the sound of a modern high-gain amp, with a sparkling clean on the first channel and sharp, aggressive
high-gain distortion on the second.
Bass: dedicated to the classic bass grain, the first channel has a clean grain with a wide spectrum while the second delivers a thick, punchy overdrive, ideal for pop, rock or jazz registers.
Modern Bass: the sound of modern bass, with a clear, clean sound on the first channel and high-gain distortion on the second.

Each model comes with its own effects pack and 9 rhythm patterns tailored to the corresponding musical registers:

Use

I received it on 16/05/2025 after La Poste delivered it 5 days late (Not thanks to Collisimo!!!, luckily it wasn't urgent), it deserves a refund of the delivery fees. Otherwise, it's a little gem. And honestly, I've never seen anything like it. A perfect sound. After that, managing the different effects or BAR is a bit complex, not necessarily covered in the user manual (on the net of course). But it's a must-have. To have for silent rehearsals.
