The M75 Super Badass Distortion remains one of the masterpieces of MXR, a pedal capable of moving from one style to another in a fluid way. If you have a distortion grain in mind, it is certainly capable of producing it.

Good at everything.
Some distortion pedals are so specialized that you almost wonder why designers have bothered to provide adjustments! They produce a sound, and if by chance you want another, you have to acquire a second pedal. Short. Fortunately, there are also pedals like the Super Badass Distortion which has been studied to deploy slightly saturated boost to the big modern metal through the crunchy overdrive or distortion 1980s way.

The art of EQ.
Despite this extreme versatility, the M75 remains easy to use. Rather than an army of switches and channels, it has a simple three-band EQ of formidable efficiency. Looking for a warm, round overdrive? Just shrink the treble. A grain rock garage? Reduce the bass and increase the midrange. A wall of molten metal? Cut the mediums. Once you master the precise action of each band, no sound will be out of your reach.

What to see coming!
The gain adjustment has a particularly wide field of action. Where many other pedals deliver gains that go from much to more (!), The Super Badass Distortion goes from a very light distortion to a reserve of largely sufficient gain for solos full of sustain. Finally, the volume knob has enough power to boost an amp at the edge of the crunch.

Great distortion pedal. MXR quality and more than fair value for money. With this, there's already plenty of fun to be had. The distortion knob offers a wide range of sounds: very little distortion and you get close to an overdrive, the knob set at 12 o'clock and you're in good rock territory, and turned all the way up you're in heavy rock or even metal territory by playing with the equalization. In short, a great versatile pedal ??
