Arturia Keystep White

Description

An ultra-compact keyboard without compromise.
Typically, portable keyboards involve sacrificing buttons, features, and connectivity. That's why, when you discover the KeyStep's compact size, you might not think it has MIDI inputs and outputs, a CV gate, and even analog sync. But why analog sync? We saved the best for last: the KeyStep also includes a built-in sequencer.

A master keyboard with flawless keys.
Arturia has designed a keyboard specifically for the KeyStep. The result? On a portable keyboard, you get slim keys (halfway between large and small keys) that are pleasant to play and respond precisely to your playing and sensitivity. But Arturia has gone even further: the KeyStep's keyboard also responds to velocity and even aftertouch.

USB, MIDI, CV, and sync: open to the analog and digital worlds.
If you see so many KeySteps at trade shows, festivals, or even in studios, it's because they can connect to any environment: USB to control a computer, CV-gate to control analog instruments or modules, and finally, MIDI to work with digital synthesizers or expanders. As for sync, the KeyStep supports all different digital and analog standards: it can therefore synchronize with your PC software as well as with Korg Volca or an Arturia MatrixBrute.

Polyphonic sequencer and arpeggiator.
The KeyStep also offers an 8-memory polyphonic sequencer. This is complemented by an arpeggiator with 8 playing patterns. This sequencer is ideal for controlling a Eurorack modular system, but why not synchronize it with a Korg Volca system? Your KeyStep then transforms into a musical hub, becoming the nerve center of your environment, however comprehensive it may be.

This is my first mini-sized master keyboard. Actually, it's much more than a master keyboard because it's equipped with an arpeggiator, sequencer, CV/gate interface. A real Swiss army knife. Compact but with 32 keys instead of 25, which makes a big difference for me, a very good keyboard compared to others. The touch-sensitive wheels are really pleasant and effective. The only downside compared to physical wheels: it lacks a light indicator to know if the modulation is activated. I've already found myself triggering modulation by brushing the strip, but there's no visual feedback to notice it. I tested it in CV/GATE on a vintage Yamaha CS (so in Hertz/V) and it works well. What a pleasure to sequence this dinosaur!... (Show more)

It advantageously replaced my m_audio oxygen keyboard, unusable due to an outdated driver. I gained on all levels: driver, build quality, clever power supply, a truly versatile sequencer, and advanced control through the driver.

Good but the arpeggiator could be improved (modes 7 and 8 are disappointing...).
