During a festival in 2022, Josh Scott, founder of JHS, found himself in a conversation with the legendary guitarist Nels Cline. Nels mentioned atypical delays, leading to an in-depth discussion about the strangest pedals they had encountered. A few days later, Josh received a message from Nels asking if JHS made an "oil can" type delay, a specific delay design that produces a truly unique echo effect with elements of vibrato and slapback delay. He then began to precisely explain the sound he was looking for with this type of echo. Although JHS did not have one in their official range, Josh and his team developed an "oil can" delay pedal.
