Description

Custom Shop Texas Special Telecaster pickups are coiled for increased output level. They employ Alnico 5 magnets and enameled winding wires, to give you stunning midrange and presence. The neck pickup cover, in nickel / silver, delivers the clear and warm sound that is characteristic of the Telecaster; the bridge pickup features stepped-height studs, and a copper-plated steel lower plate.

First impression, the box arrived torn and the pickups are full of dust... for a product costing 150 euros I expected better... the assembly took me an hour and I bought this set to upgrade a Telecaster. Nothing to say, the sound is good, even if I find it a bit too bright, it's sharp very sharp. Too bad because I really like the neck pickup and it works well with a low gain pedal, but really too sharp for my taste. The middle position is nice but it sounds too Telecaster and it's too typical I find, as for the neck pickup, same observation it's very sharp. It lacks warmth and smoothness and it's too country for my taste. Even if again for the price the sound quality is there but it doesn't match what I'm looking for, not versatile enough I find. So I will return them and try Bare Knuckle pickups which are roughly the same price.... (Show more)
