Description
Neumann precision, serious bass and power
The KH 150 is a powerful bi-amplified studio monitor with benchmark performance. Its 6.5-inch woofer in a bass-reflex enclosure delivers stunning low- and high-end SPL capability with undiminished clarity. DSP-controlled electronics ensure linear phase response and enable room-specific calibration using Neumann's revolutionary MA 1 automatic monitor alignment system.
What you hear is what you get
The KH 150 follows the same philosophy as all Neumann studio monitors: the greatest linearity, the lowest distortion, no coloration and perfect adaptability to any acoustic environment. It lets you hear every nuance of your tracks. Once you take the guesswork out of it, mixing becomes a lot quicker and easier - not to mention more creative: It looks amazing, but can I get away with it? Is this voice bright or sibilant? Is it too much bass? The KH 150 will tell you. Frankly.
A bigger one
What sets the KH 150 apart from its smaller siblings is its deeper bass response down to 39 Hz. This is almost as low as the larger KH 310, which is made possible by the new woofer 6.5″ high-precision speaker from the KH 150 in a carefully designed bass-reflex enclosure. The KH 150 is therefore perfectly suited to urban music, EDM, film music and all styles that require extended low-end and/or high listening levels. Thanks to powerful amplifiers (145W/100W) and sophisticated protective limiters, no clarity is lost even at high SPLs. But the KH 150 is also a true universalist, working equally well for everything from rock and classical music to broadcast applications and voice-over work.
Exceptional frequency response
The KH 150 has an exceptionally linear frequency response of 39 Hz to 21 kHz (±3 dB). Not only that, it also linearizes the phase response! This results in clear midranges with astonishing transparency and extreme precision in the time domain, i.e. precise reproduction of impulses and reverberations resolved. This is made possible by DSP-controlled electronics that enable sophisticated crossovers and avoid phase distortion caused by analog filters. The internal DSP also achieves new standards in tonal coherence, as the KH 150 is manufactured with extremely low tolerances of no more than ±0.8 dB! And you can hear it too: the stereo image is razor-sharp.
Ready for your room
Even the best speaker only sounds as good as the acoustic environment allows. Neumann's Mathematically Modeled Dispersion™ (MMD™) waveguide ensures a wide sweet spot and minimizes desktop reflections. But the KH 150 goes much further: its internal DSP allows room calibration using Neumann's revolutionary automatic monitor alignment system. The MA 1 (sold separately) ensures that your DSP-powered monitors are perfectly matched to the characteristics of your room and perfectly calibrated for your listening position. Even in acoustically treated rooms, this results in a huge improvement.
Low consumption
Neumann engineers have worked painstakingly to develop patent-pending amplifier technology that combines superior audio performance with Class D power efficiency. Although the KH 150's amplifiers deliver up to 145 W to the 6.5 woofer ″ and 100 W at the 1″ tweeter, they only consume 17 W at rest. And an optional automatic sleep mode can be activated to reduce power consumption to 0.3W when the KH 150 is not in use.
