Vox AC15 C1

Description

Essential Information About the Vox AC15C1 Amp

  • British classic 15 W EL84 tube amp, ideal for the Vox "chime" crunch at reasonable volume.
  • Two complementary channels Normal and Top Boost with master volume to shape clean, edge-of-breakup, and singing overdrive tones.
  • Built-in effects authentic spring reverb and tremolo, switchable via optional footswitch.
  • Combo 1x12 Celestion Greenback 16 ohms, semi-open cabinet for tight bass and expressive mids.

Historical Context and Positioning in the Range

Born in the wake of the 1958 AC15 ' one of the amps that defined British pop and rock ' the AC15C1 continues Vox's aesthetic and sonic DNA while adapting it for modern stages and studios. It belongs to the brand's "Custom" family, echoing historic circuits with current controls and improved reliability compared to vintage versions.

Who This Amp Is For

Versatile and musical, the AC15C1 suits intermediate to professional guitarists. Its 15 W tube power provides enough punch for rehearsals and small to medium venues, while remaining perfectly usable in the studio. It excels in pop, indie, brit-rock, classic rock, blues, and folk, and pairs well with both single coils and humbuckers.

Features and Innovations

The Normal channel delivers a full and responsive clean with the "Tone Cut" control, while the Top Boost channel adds brightness and bite through dedicated bass/treble controls. The master volume allows power amp saturation at controlled volume levels. The built-in spring reverb and tremolo add depth and movement, and an effects loop accommodates your time-based pedals. The combo features a Celestion G12M Greenback 12" speaker (16 ohms) in a semi-open cabinet, with outputs for external/extension speaker and optional VFS2A footswitch connection.

The Sound

Tube-driven (3 x 12AX7 preamp tubes, 2 x EL84 power tubes), the AC15C1 offers the famous Vox tone: singing clarity, textured mids, crystalline highs, and a very musical natural compression when pushed. The headroom is moderate, perfect for dynamic "edge of breakup" tones; the Greenback adds slight mid grit and firm bass. The amp handles overdrives, boosts, and delays on the loop or front end remarkably well, delivering sparkling cleans, punchy crunch, or creamy leads.

Famous Vox tube combo (bought by mistake, I wanted the 30 Alnico and clicked the wrong amp) So, I added the V 212 C speaker cabinet and 8 Ohm Z load, it balances well, anyway it will never be pushed. 2 channels including 1 clean, Vibrato and spring reverb The famous Vox Boost channel with all its usual and unchanged parameters that generate the brand's legendary sound, You probably already know all this except that adding the speaker cabinet is really great, by lowering the impedance we add 2 additional sources that add an envelope and disperse the sound surprisingly, of course the speaker cabinet is equipped with Celestions. Do you like that famous characteristic sound? Well... it's him who makes it!!! If you really need to play very very loud, take the 30 (personally the 15 is already more than enough for the eardrums) Pure happiness!!!... (Show more)

The best amp of my life. Makes all guitars sound like never before, the two channels are sublime, the tremolo incredible, a small reservation on the reverb which is very long very quickly to my taste but well, if you want a good reverb well you have to buy a pedal. Nothing to complain about, the 15w rocks, the sound is amazing, I haven't come down from my cloud for a week, I can't wait to finish work to turn it back on. Thanks Vox and thanks WB for the delivery

hello super amp this Vox, the clear crystalline sounds 'snap' especially with my Telecaster! I like crunch sounds less! although with my Epiphone Lee Paul I get a sound not so bad after all I will add a distortion I think it will be better. everything has been said about this amp, it's a good buy

Amp received in 48h, the box was pierced and upside down at the time of delivery, yet there are arrows ... Received under reserve of unpacking and the amp doesn't have a single scratch :) We quickly read the manual, plug it in, it heats up and the so British universe of Vox totally invades you.

Made in China with the English specifications, this is the legend I've wanted for a long time at an affordable price (615 euros) for my budget, and that in 3 installments. That sound... that sound... hmmm!

Perfect amp for clear sounds and bluesy distortion, but not "ballsy" enough to play metal without an additional distortion pedal. The reverb and tremolo are of very good quality.

I had a Marshall and a Fender... I kept only this one. It matches exactly what I was looking for in terms of sound (I plug in a SG junior 63' reissue).

Beautiful amp, good sound, very clean in terms of finishes! I don't regret switching to a tube amp, especially a VOX!

No regrets, Vox remains a reference and a sweet dream for me, the next one will be the AC15C1X or an Orange...
