Originally designed in the 70s, this “regeneration loop” (feedback) type compressor, like the 1176, 660, etc. It offers input (threshold) and output (catch-up gain) control. An additional fine “ceiling” control modifies the threshold and catch-up gain for subtle alterations in compression without changing the output. A compression-limiting knob sets the rate to 2:1 or 20:1. The attack time is extremely fast: 15µs. Four release time modes are accessible by two buttons: 0.1s, 0.5s, 1.5s and 2.0s. A sibilant elimination feature inserts a reverse speech energy curve filter into the detector for effective reduction of sibilants and pops. Exact re-release of one of the most popular API products of all time.
