THE ALL-TERRAIN PORTABLE RECORDER
The Zoom H2n is the only portable recorder to offer five built-in microphones and four different recording modes: X/Y, Mid-Side, 2-channel surround and 4-channel surround. Its other cutting-edge features include automatic gain control, integrated MS decoding and various effects such as compression, limiting and low-cut filtering. You can even use the H2n as a versatile USB microphone! The Zoom H2n is equipped with not one, not two, but five built-in microphones. Two of them are arranged in an X/Y pair, while the other three are arranged in an MS (“Mid-Side”) configuration. You can use them separately for X/Y or MS stereo recording, or together to create beautiful 2 or 4 channel surround sound.
VARIABLE STEREO MAGNITUDE
Mid-Side recording is an incredible technique that allows you to really vary the extent of the stereo image after recording, while maintaining perfect mono compatibility, which is particularly useful for cinema projects , video and television. The three MS microphone elements of the Zoom H2n are stacked on top of each other. One points forward and the other two point to the sides. The X/Y technique provides an excellent way to cover a wide area while still capturing centrally located sound sources with clarity and definition, making it the go-to method for all types of live stereo recording.
A 360 SOUND MORE REAL THAN NATURE
The Zoom H2n is the only portable recorder capable of capturing 4-channel surround sound. With firmware v. 2.00, it is perfect for creating files in 360-degree “Spatial Audio” format, the next-generation native surround sound format for the Google Jump virtual reality platform. Using Spatial Audio mode, you can create a single four-channel multi-track WAV file including Omni, Left/Right and Front/Rear tracks. The H2n's 3.5mm stereo mini line input jack can accept two channels of mic and/or line level signals. You can connect condenser microphones requiring power supply (2.5 volt Plug-In Power) to this socket. An analog mic gain control lets you manually adjust the input level, but it's also possible to choose one of three automatic gain presets to achieve the optimal recording level without any adjustments.
