Sierra Hull F-5G Sierra Burst VOS Varnish
Sierra Hull is a mandolin virtuoso, singer, guitarist, and songwriter known for her exceptional technical proficiency and unique musical style, which blends elements of bluegrass, Americana, folk, jazz, and modern progressive acoustic music. She started playing mandolin at age eight and performed at the Grand Ole Opry by age ten. Her performances quickly attracted the attention of other highly skilled bluegrass musicians, and she has collaborated with and received accolades from other notable artists, including Gillian Welch, Béla Fleck, Dolly Parton, Brandi Carlile, and Alison Krauss.
Her debut album,
Secrets, was released in 2008, followed by
Daybreak (2011),
Weighted Mind (2016), and
25 Trips (2020), which cemented her place as one of the most innovative musicians in contemporary bluegrass and acoustic music. Her fifth studio album,
A Tip Toe High Wire, marks her first release in five years, self-produced and independently released.
A two-time Grammy nominee, Sierra Hull is the only woman to have been nominated for—and to win—six IBMA Mandolin Player of the Year awards. She is also the first woman to have a signature series Gibson mandolin.
Gibson Custom introduces the Sierra Hull F-5G mandolin, built on the F-5G platform with customizations specified by Sierra herself. It features a two-piece, quarter-sawn figured red maple body, a carved solid Sitka spruce top, flat-sawn figured red maple sides, and a hand-applied VOS varnish finish in Sierra Burst—the first of its kind for the F-5G.
The neck is figured red maple with an ebony fretboard, 20 medium frets, and mother-of-pearl dot inlays. The scroll headstock includes Grover tuners, a mother-of-pearl nut, and inlays of "The Gibson" logo and Flowerpot. The bridge is ebony, and the nickel-plated tailpiece cover is engraved with "The Gibson" and Sierra Hull’s initials.
The mandolin comes with a certificate of authenticity, a Sierra Hull BlueChip pick, and a hardshell case.
