The R-122V was developed in 2001 as a reference mic for the R-122 mic. We spent over four years fine-tuning it to become one of the best ribbon mics available. The R-122V delivers unparalleled sound quality, richness, and precision, especially in the midrange. Tracks recorded with the R-122V have a stunning sound that must be heard to be fully appreciated. In short, the R-122V features the finest components and delivers optimal sonic performance. Equipped with a tube circuit, the R-122V takes the innovative design of Royer's active ribbon mics (such as the R-121 and R 122) to an unprecedented level. The tube's high operating voltage provides much greater headroom than standard phantom power. In other words, the R-122V offers unsurpassed clarity, precision, and transparency.
