Cory Wong, one of the hottest funk guitarists around, signed a signature Stratocaster model to Fender in 2021. A big fan of Seymour Duncan pickups, it was obvious to make the pickup set with this legendary manufacturer. A user of Antiquity II Surfer pickups for their typical, shiny and punchy strat grain, like the Everything Ax set which is very effective in saturation, Cory Wong asked Seymour Duncan for the perfect mix between these two worlds. The signature Cory Wong Clean Machine set therefore features Alnico IV magnets for the neck and middle positions but offers a humbucker bridge pickup in a simple format, with stacked coils, and Alnico V magnets, for more bite. The whole thing is slightly over-wound for more sonic thickness. Handcrafted in Santa Barbara, California (USA), the Seymour Duncan pickups in the Cory Wong Clean Machine set are designed with stepped poles, specific for Fender 7.25" radii and are fitted with pristine white covers, a la difference from Antiquity in relic finish.
