This work, written between 1922 and 1925, belongs to the first period of Borys Lyatoshynsky. It is music full of poetry and hope, a constant exaltation of utopian beauty. The structure remains quite classical but the harmonic progression is radically different, based mainly on permanent transpositions.
The melodic lines, of great rhythmic richness and with intonations without register boundaries, create a symphony of interweaving. The instrumental writing, very virtuosic, perfectly serves this music. Like his First Symphony, this work is of perfect mastery and maturity.
