The Opto TG for the 500 Series is related to the Opto TG1, found in Chandler Limited's TG Cassette Microphone, the TG1 Limiter, and the Zener Limiter. These all date back to the historic EMI TG12413 Limiters found on the TG12345 mixing and mastering consoles of the late 1960s and early 1970s. EMI's transistor-based TG12345 recording consoles helped shape the sound of the Beatles' final album, Abbey Road, and Pink Floyd's "Dark Side of the Moon."
The Chandler Limited TG Opto Compressor is a handcrafted, fully discrete, dual-slot mono module designed for the 500 Series format. It includes controls for selectable "sharp" and "rounded" settings, continuous input, output, attack, release, and a true bypass. In the "sharp" position, the TG Opto is capable of producing explosive drum sounds, and in the "rounded" position, it's ideal for scenarios where compression needs to be less overt. Continuous adjustment allows for fine-tuning compression to suit a range of sources and create a variety of sounds.
Features: - Modular 500 Series Compressor (2 slots) - Optocompressor - Special adaptation of the Chandler Limited TG1 limiter, based on the historic EMI TG12413 - Sharp and rounded characteristics - Continuous input, output, attack, and release controls - Gain reduction indicator - True bypass - Official EMI/Abbey Road Studios Equipment - Handmade in the USA
