The new Chandler line begins with the mono preamp equipped with GERMANIUM transistors. A completely new design by Wade Goeke, it uses Germanium transistors in an all-Class A circuit design using balanced transformers. The use of germanium components results in a range of sounds unmatched by the technologies used in other machines today. The primary characteristic of germanium is its smoothness; this type of component was used in early generations of Neve (1053, 1055, 1057), EMI (TG12345 MKI), Telefunken, and Fairchild amplifiers. Those who have had the opportunity to use these various devices can attest to their distinctive sound.
The GERMANIUM Series uses a +40 volt output with a +35 dB output level before clipping. The sound is warm and smooth, like most vintage machines. However, you'll find a very original sound that won't clash with other preamps. All this, combined with the use of new transformers and the use of very high-quality components (St. Ives and Gardners), makes the GERMANIUM a unique machine at a very competitive price.
